From October 30 to November 1, the 2026 Steel Industry Chain Development Outlook Conference, hosted by SteelHome.com, was held in Nanjing. Guests including Li Yiren, Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Association, and Wu Wenzhang, Chairman of SteelHome.com, attended the conference and delivered speeches.
Li Yiren pointed out that China's steel industry has exhibited five key characteristics this year: supply has outpaced demand; manufacturing's share of steel consumption surpassing construction; steel exports remaining at high levels while import declines narrowed; steel prices fluctuating downward while iron ore prices remained elevated; and overall industry profits increasing month-on-month. He emphasized that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the steel industry will accelerate digital and intelligent transformation, build an intelligent innovation system, and promote high-quality development.
Wu Wenzhang analyzed market trends, forecasting that steel prices within the year will “fluctuate overall with a higher bottom”; and that 2026 prices would fluctuate near the industry's average cost line, with the average price slightly higher than this year's. Regarding raw materials, iron ore supply remains relatively ample, while coke prices are projected to rise by 100 yuan per ton on average.
Concurrently, the conference hosted multiple thematic forums and supply-demand matching events, attracting over 900 representatives from across the steel industry chain to collectively explore development trends and innovative models.
