Recently, the High-Quality Steel Division of Jingye Group successfully developed and delivered S400GD+AZ, an aluminized zinc hot-formed structural steel, for special applications in automotive support structural components. The development process broke through the traditional alloy design concept and significantly reduced alloy costs while ensuring the ultra-high performance of customers after quenching through personalized composition optimization, achieving a dual breakthrough in performance and economy.
In response to the automotive industry's continuously growing demand for high-strength hot-formed steel, as well as the requirement for simultaneous improvement in lightweighting and safety performance, the High-Quality Steel Division, guided by customer needs, optimized composition design and the entire process, controlled hot rolling, annealing, and welding parameters to ensure stable performance and high production efficiency. Strict control over rapid cooling air volume and zinc pot temperature ensured uniform zinc bloom and excellent surface quality. After process optimization, the aluminum-zinc substrate achieved stable performance at the 400MPa level with a grain size of grade 11 or higher, giving it an excellent hot working window and complex forming capabilities. This effectively avoided the problems of cold forming cracking and springback. Subsequent in-mold rapid quenching at 900℃ drove the martensitic phase transformation, resulting in an ultra-high strength of over 1300MPa and ideal toughness in the finished product.
The initial trial order for the product was 64 tons, used for automotive connectors and structural components. After delivery, the customer reported good performance, and has since placed an additional order for 300 tons. The successful development and mass production of this product is a concrete example of the High-Quality Steel Business Unit's commitment to transforming into a manufacturing services company and deepening its customized services.
