However, this protection has limitations: once the zinc layer is scratched or damaged, the underlying steel becomes susceptible to rusting, especially in humid, high-salinity, or chemically corrosive environments, where its durability is significantly reduced.
Stainless steel pipes (commonly grades 304/316) inherently possess outstanding corrosion resistance. The protective chromium oxide layer formed by chromium can self-repair even when damaged, making them exceptionally effective in harsh environments such as coastal areas or chemical plants. However, corrosion resistance varies among different stainless steel types, necessitating selection of the appropriate grade based on specific environmental conditions.
