Recently, Shandong Steel successfully completed the trial production of 100mm S355NLZ25 high-end wind power steel. All performance indicators met the standards, marking a significant breakthrough in the research and manufacturing of wind power steel plates with large thickness, high toughness, and high Z-axis performance. This further improves Shandong Steel's high-end wind power steel product portfolio and enhances its independent supply capacity and market competitiveness for thick steel products.
S355NLZ25 series is a high-end wind power structural steel under the European standard EN10025-3. It must simultaneously meet the requirements of ultra-low temperature toughness at -40 degrees Celsius, excellent strength-toughness matching, and Z25 grade resistance to lamellar tearing. It is the core material for key structural components such as wind turbine towers and offshore wind power equipment. The trial production of this 100mm thick specification faces industry technical bottlenecks such as limited compression ratio, difficulty in controlling the uniformity of core tissue, and difficulty in synergistic matching of strength and toughness.
The Shandong Steel Research Institute's strip and plate R&D team adheres to technology leadership and systematic planning, accurately carrying out component system design, process parameter formulation, and closed-loop design of trial production schemes, and building a full-process quality control system. By strictly controlling the purity of steel through clean steel smelting technology, innovating rolling and cooling processes to solve the problem of core densification under low compression ratios, and optimizing heat treatment processes to achieve uniform microstructure control, key technological bottlenecks have been comprehensively overcome. Testing revealed that the product's key indicators, such as mechanical properties, low-temperature toughness, and Z-axis performance, all exceeded the standard requirements, achieving full qualification in a single trial production.
