According to data released by the General Administration of Customs on August 7, China exported 10.121 million tons of steel in July 2026, a decrease of 199,000 tons, or 1.93%, compared to the previous month. From January to July, cumulative steel exports reached 64.995 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.4%.
In July, China imported 445,000 tons of steel, an increase of 4,000 tons, or 0.91%, compared to the previous month. From January to July, cumulative steel imports reached 3.14 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 10.1%.
In July, China imported 108.085 million tons of iron ore and its concentrates, a decrease of 4.604 million tons, or 4.09%, compared to the previous month. From January to July, cumulative iron ore and its concentrate imports reached 736.841 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.9%.
In July, China imported 42.728 million tons of coal and lignite, a decrease of 51,000 tons or 0.12% month-on-month; from January to July, the cumulative imports of coal and lignite reached 268.109 million tons, an increase of 4.3% year-on-year.
