In the first four months of this year, Bengang made a breakthrough in the mass production of ultra-wide and ultra-thick hot-rolled plates. The ultra-wide and ultra-thick hot-rolled plates (Prices) with a thickness of 20mm to 28mm and a width of 2000mm to 2190mm were mass-produced, breaking the specification production barrier of conventional hot rolling mills in China. This provides key material support for high-end fields such as new energy equipment and shipbuilding, and promotes the transformation of the industrial chain towards low-carbon and high-efficiency directions.
Currently, the production specifications of mainstream hot rolling mills in China are generally no more than 20mm in thickness and no more than 2000mm in width. High-end ultra-wide and ultra-thick steel products have long relied on traditional medium-thick steel plate (Prices) production lines. Bengang closely followed market demand and addressed industry shortcomings, leveraging the "star production line" role of its 2300 production line to overcome a series of technical challenges, including equipment overload, rolling instability, difficulty in plate shape control, large dimensional accuracy deviations, and uneven microstructure and properties, thus achieving large-scale mass production. In response to the characteristics of the 2300 production line unit, we made a key breakthrough in the technical bottleneck of stable batch rolling of the 2190mm ultra-wide specification.
During the technical research and development process, Bengang established a task force to address the issue of unstable performance in ultra-thick products. The task force continuously optimized the controlled rolling and cooling process, reasonably increased the deformation per pass, improved the internal structure of the steel, and eliminated core quality defects. Meanwhile, more than 10 model system operation limitations were overcome, more than 100 key process parameters such as rolling tension and roll gap compensation were adjusted, and multiple equipment accuracy calibration tasks were completed. In addition, by optimizing the steel passage throughout the entire line, scientifically selecting and matching the roll types, and precisely controlling the rolling process, the problems of unstable plate passage and difficulty in controlling the plate shape of ultra-wide plates have been effectively solved.
Currently, the hot rolling production line of Bengang has stable and reliable product quality and has fully acquired the capacity for large-scale production of ultra-wide and ultra-thick hot-rolled plates, laying a solid foundation for the company to improve quality and efficiency and transform and upgrade.
