The 2026 Fortune Global 500 list was announced on July 29. This year, the entry threshold rose to $33.2 billion, and the total revenue of the companies on the list reached approximately $43.1 trillion, exceeding one-third of global GDP.
Chinese steel companies performed particularly well on this list. According to statistics, 17 steel-related companies worldwide made the list, with Chinese companies accounting for 13 of those spots. These achievements highlight the important role of China’s steel industry in the global supply chain.

In terms of rankings, CITIC Group, China Minmetals Group, and China Baowu Steel Group successfully made it into the top 100, ranking 59th, 99th, and 100th, respectively. Among them, China Baowu Steel Group, with operating revenue of $102.98 billion, not only firmly held the top spot among Chinese steel companies but also ranked first among global steel companies.
Other Chinese steel companies following closely behind include Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, Tsingshan Holding Group, HBIS Group, Jingye Group, Hangzhou Iron and Steel Group, Jiangsu Shagang Group, Hunan Iron and Steel Group, Delong Steel Induatry Group, Beijing Jianlong Heavy Industry Group, and Ansteel Group. Among them, Tsingshan Holding Group ranks first among privately-owned steel companies. It is worth noting that Hunan Iron and Steel Group jumped 20 spots in the rankings compared to last year, demonstrating strong momentum for growth.

The fact that Chinese steel companies have collectively made the Fortune Global 500 list not only demonstrates the industry’s continued growth in scale and strength but also reflects the positive results achieved by China’s steel industry in its transformation, upgrading, and efforts to improve quality and efficiency. This achievement serves as a microcosm of the high-quality development of China’s steel industry.
