The high-strength, tough and extra-thick marine engineering steel EQ70 is mainly used in high-end fields such as ultra-large marine engineering equipment and polar ships, which have extremely stringent requirements on the strength, toughness and welding performance of the steel. The Xingang Heavy Plate Division targeted this high-end market demand and conducted research. Through composition design and process optimization, it effectively solved the industry's common problem of balancing the strength and toughness of extremely thick (over 80 cm thick) steel plates, achieving the goals of a yield strength of greater than or equal to 690 MPa, a tensile strength of greater than or equal to 770 MPa, and an impact absorption energy of greater than or equal to 80 joules at -40 degrees Celsius.
The successful development and first delivery of high-strength, tough and extra-thick marine engineering steel EQ70 means that Xingang has achieved a breakthrough from scratch in the field of 690 MPa ultra-high strength marine steel, enriched its high-end product series, and laid a solid foundation for seizing the high-end marine steel market. At the same time, Xingang also provides a reliable domestic supply channel for high-end marine engineering equipment such as floating production storage and offloading vessels (FPSO) and deep-water drilling platforms, injecting new impetus into the development of my country's marine engineering equipment.
