Currently, the fabrication and installation of the first batch of 600KA electrolytic cells for an aluminum electrolysis project in Indonesia is progressing in an orderly manner according to plan, and the processing and fabrication of the upper cells has been fully launched. Behind the rise of this modern electrolytic aluminum plant, Chongqing Steel provided material support for its electrolytic cell manufacturing with its superior plate quality and efficient contract fulfillment.
Indonesia is a major global producer of bauxite and is actively building a complete domestic aluminum industry system, accelerating the deep processing of its resources. This project, with a total planned capacity of 600,000 tons of electrolytic aluminum per year, will significantly enhance the region's aluminum self-sufficiency upon completion, injecting strong momentum into the development of downstream high-end manufacturing industries. Against the backdrop of the alignment between China's Belt and Road Initiative and Indonesia's industrialization strategy, the steady progress of this project has significant demonstrative value for industrial cooperation.
The main steel plates required for the 160 600KA electrolytic cells in this project were all supplied by Chongqing Steel. As the core equipment in the production of electrolytic aluminum, the electrolytic cell has extremely high manufacturing quality requirements—the steel plate must meet stringent export standards in terms of tolerance control and surface quality, and the delivery cycle is extremely tight. Faced with the challenges, Chongqing Steel's Medium and Heavy Plate Business Center responded quickly, formulating a production organization plan and key points for process control for the project. It meticulously planned and efficiently coordinated all aspects, including technical standard alignment, production process optimization, full-process quality control, and logistics support, while simultaneously opening up fast logistics and shipping channels. In April of this year, Chongqing Iron & Steel successfully completed the delivery of all steel plates for electrolytic cells and won the recognition of the owner and contractor with its excellent product quality and efficient performance.
Previously, Chongqing Steel had successfully supplied main steel plates for 150 electrolytic cells in Vietnam's first aluminum production project, accumulating rich experience in ensuring supply for overseas projects. Taking this opportunity, Chongqing Steel will further enhance the market competitiveness and industry influence of the "Sanfeng" brand, continue to focus on the demand of the overseas high-end plate market, deepen the advantages of product steel research and development and production, and steadily move towards the goal of "building the most competitive plate manufacturing base in Southwest China" to contribute to the joint construction of the "Belt and Road".
